Lesson 22

It is the end of the work day and I am unable to think of any way the library could use anything
I looked at on Webware. I also took a quick look at Web 2.0 Awards and didn't see anything
library-useful there. Maybe if I weren't so tired, I could think of something.

Another interesting lesson. Had trouble thinking of terms to compare in "Google Trends"
Google suggest is interesting, but the suggestions didn't stay on the screen long enough
to read.

Lesson 20

These are both interesting; I think the Google Docs is the most straightforward. Could be useful.

Lesson 19

I read "to more powerful ways to cooperate" - cooperation has always been a mainstay in the library world,
new technology should make it faster and better. I also read "Into a new world of librarianship" - I don't
think it is new, we have taken our patrons into consideration regarding collections, physical sites, and
service; we just have to continue doing that. The last one I read is "To better bibliographic services."
Again cooperation to provide better service is not new. I consider 2.0 just another tool to help us do
our jobs.

Lesson 18

Lesson 18 was fun; I can see making your own search engine would be useful to reference
librarians. Will try to use it as I have time.

Lesson 16

I had to have a lot of help with this lesson and then my edit to the "best blogs ever"
apparently didn't take. The link to my blog doesn't link.

Lesson 14, Pt. 2

I see it is not a true link; I don't think I know how to make it a true link.

Lesson 14

I just did lesson 14 (after lesson 15) because the LibraryThing site was down a few days ago.
It is fun to list the books you have read or intend to read. I will investigate this more as I
have time.

Wikis

I thought the business librarian at Ohio State University had a pretty good wiki. How do you
find out if he allows people to add to it or change it?
A good use of a wiki for a library would be a place for librarians to put their favorite web sites
on various topics such as country information, investing, whatever.

Lesson 13

I was unable to find a place to search in Blog posts, tags, or directory. I looked thoroughly and am going
to consider this lesson done.

Lessons 9, 10 and 11

I haven't done anything for a couple of months, so I am really rusty at this.

Libraries and MySpace

I read several of the articles assigned to us in lesson 9. It looks like the social networking
sites are really going to proliferate rapidly. How will KCLS decide in which ones to have a
presence? Who is going to decide that? Who posts things to the networking site?

I wondered, too, about David Lee King. He seems to give a lot of presentations here and there.
Maybe we should ask him to come to KCLS. The problem with that, though, is that only a few
of us get to hear speakers that come. L.

I finished lesson 8. I hope these lessons stay online for the rest of the year. I'm not
going to complete them by the middle of summer.

I found the RSS much more interesting than the Flickr lesson.
Perhaps KCLS could use RSS internally to send out the Weekly Memo or
minutes of the Board meetings.

I thought the Trading Card Maker in Flickr was interesting. What would anyone do with
them though? Lorraine
